From E-standard to Drop A (a dramatic 3 ½ steps down), the system ensures proper intonation, string height, neck bow, and string tension—every time.

Options and String Recommendations
Whether you’re a full-on shredder, a dive-bombing maniac, or someone who prefers a fixed bridge, the MISTRESS adapts to your playing style:

  • Full Tremolo Functionality

    • Match total string tension across all tunings (e.g., if the E-standard tuning uses 108 lbs, the D-standard tuning should also total 108 lbs).

    • Use string tension calculators to craft balanced string sets. This keeps neck bow consistent across tunings and simplifies adjustments for environmental changes.

    • Alternatively, use the recommended string gauges in our Installation tab which contains tested string gauges for most tunings.

  • Full Tremolo with Stabilizer (Added spring tension for reverse dive resistance)

    • Compatible with any stabilizer-friendly string set.

    • Matching string tension is recommended for consistency in neck bow and string feel.

  • Partial Tremolo (Dive bombs only—no reverse squeals)

    • Block the tremolo to prevent string stretching and use any string set.

    • Matching string tension is recommended for consistency in neck bow and string feel.

  • Fixed Bridge Style (Tremolo completely blocked)

    • Matching string tension is recommended for consistency in neck bow and string feel.
